Thank you for your interest in Joining IMUK.  We ask that all applicants attend a “Making the Move” workshop.  We are trialling workshops tailored to applications for a period to see which way works best.

Our workshops are aimed at anyone interested in learning about independent midwifery practice. These informal sessions offer the opportunity to meet established independent midwives for support and guidance as well as plenty of time for those attending to ask questions about setting yourself up in independent midwifery practice. 

The workshop will cover:

• Finances for setting up and running your new business
• Indemnity Insurance – Exploring the options and current challenges
• Joys and challenges of self-employment
• Sourcing and buying midwifery equipment
• Publicity and finding clients
• Working with other independent colleagues in a variety of ways – Networking

• Forming effective working relationships with other client care providers NHS/Private
• Relationship with NMC – Maintaining Registration/Keeping up-to-date/Revalidation  
• Benefits of IMUK membership
• IMUKs Governance structure – Good Standing
• Attendance Certificate and receipt for workshop fee

(we offer a half day for those already established in business at half of advertised prices)
