I became a registered midwife almost by accident. I originally trained as a nurse, but with two small children of my own at the time, I knew what I found lacking in the service I received. So I retrained in midwifery to be able to provide other women with the service and support I would have l wished for myself and have spent my 30 year plus career with one thing at my heart; supporting families right to choose.

I listen. And I craft my service to meet your needs. Birth and motherhood is a very personal experience; one to be cherished. I champion choice and the mother’s right to choose the right birth path for her and her baby.

I am kind, calm, friendly, professional and strong; all the things I believe mothers need from a midwife during this precious time. I offer support to families through pregnancy, birth and post-natally.

Throughout my career, but especially during my years as a Supervisor of Midwives (SOM) I learnt that choice is essential in providing a quality service for mums to feel empowered both during the birth and as they progress into motherhood.

One size does not fit all and that is something I believe is critical to recognise as a birth professional; every birth, every mother, every family is unique. I create individual birth plans, specific to you and relevant to your situation.

I have a wealth of practical experience in the UK and internationally, and have always kept my knowledge fresh through ongoing and regular updating of my skills in all areas of traditional and modern midwifery. I am experienced in both hospital and home birth.

My local, national and international work experience has shown me how wonderfully unique families are but what they all have in common is the desire to CHOOSE what is right for them.
